the glass aerie
BY heather mansfield
I am a wildlife biologist that appreciated art, but did not delve into it myself. In my 30's a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis made me find another outlet that would allow me to work with the beauty of the natural world--fused glass.
While my glass designs are diverse, ranging from abstract to Asian, my love of wildlife is at the heart of much of my art. Horses are also often featured as they are a beautiful and integral part of this region. My fused glass art includes decorative pieces for display or wear and dishwasher-safe tableware.
All sales from my glass sales are donated to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society to support them in funding research for a cure and helping those living with the disease.
My art has been sold at the following Virgina galleries:
The Cooley Gallery; Art in the Valley; Art in the Foothills;
Berryville Firehouse Gallery, It's Bazaar; Purcelville Pottery & Arts; the Hamilton Mercantile, and numerous commissions and charitable auctions
